1) Pair Go Tournament Postponed until May 2016
Due to a scheduling conflict, the pair go tournament I mentioned before has been postponed until May. The good news is that there will be $500.00 in prize money available for the event.

2) San Diego Go Club 2016 Winter Soiree February 21
Instead, I will be holding a go soiree at my home on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from noon until 5 p.m. Pizza will be served at 5 p.m. to anyone wishing to hang around and socialize. AGA rated self-paired games can be played or just informal games can be arranged if a person is not an AGA member. Beginners to pro-level players as well as spectators are welcome at this quarterly event. While everything is FREE, if you are likely to come, please preregister at
GOCLUBS.ORG
so that the proper number of boards, stones and pizza can be available. GOCLUBS.org contains everything from maps, to bus routes, to drink preferences and a place for indicating your favorite pizza (use food preference field). Nominal prizes will be awarded to dan and kyu players who play the most number of AGA rated games. Free rides are available to UCSD students who give me a call or email. There were more than 30 players of all levels at the last go soiree. The go party gives the club a chance to show off its Kaya boards and slate and shell stones as well as the 200+ book go library. One can wander in my small Japanese garden if one needs to recover from a devastating loss. Come and have fun.
At goclubs.org, there is an option to preregister for a practice pair go event - same day and time and place. The software is new and I am testing it out. If you have a pair of people who would like to register there and practice for the real tournament in May that has cash prizes, please sign up.

3) North Coast Go Club
The go club in Carlsbad will not be meeting the next two weeks, February 7 & 14.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) Cherry Blossom Festival
The San Diego Go Club will be demonstrating and teaching go at the annual Japanese Friendship Garden's Cherry Blossom Festival in Balboa Park again this year on Saturday and Sunday, March 5 & 6, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Thousands attended the event last year. I am looking for volunteers to teach and play. Free admission and a probably lunch are offered to helpers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) 2016 US Go Congress Boston July 30 - August 7, 2016
The biggest (300-400 players) and best (US Open and masters competition) in the country. A week of playing go and attending lectures by professionals from around the world.
